1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and the operator of ScriptGecko (“ScriptGecko,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the website, account features, subscriptions, or Instagram transcription tools (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization.
2. The Service
ScriptGecko converts supported public Instagram Reel, video, and post links into machine-generated text. Features may include timestamped output, copy and TXT download, free daily use, accounts, monthly subscriptions, and transcript credits.
We may improve, modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service. We do not promise that every Instagram link, language, location, media format, or video will be supported. Private, deleted, restricted, silent, or technically unavailable content may fail.
3. Accounts and security
Google sign-in is optional for limited free use but required for paid plans and account features. You are responsible for protecting your Google account, browser session, and devices and for activity performed through your ScriptGecko account. Provide accurate information and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
You may not transfer, sell, rent, or share access to an account in a way that circumvents plan limits or creates a security risk.
4. Submitted content and your permissions
You retain your rights in content you submit or lawfully control. You grant ScriptGecko and its service providers a limited, worldwide license to access, retrieve, process, transmit, and temporarily reproduce the submitted URL, audio, and resulting text only as needed to operate, secure, and support the Service.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights, permissions, or other lawful basis needed to submit a link and use the transcript. A post being publicly accessible does not remove copyright, publicity, privacy, confidentiality, contractual, or other rights. Do not use ScriptGecko to bypass privacy controls or to exploit another person’s content unlawfully.
5. Transcript accuracy and AI limitations
Transcripts are generated automatically and may contain omissions, incorrect words, speaker errors, punctuation mistakes, or inaccurate timestamps. Quality can vary with background noise, music, accents, language, overlapping speakers, recording quality, and source availability.
Review important names, quotations, numbers, claims, and legal or safety-related information before relying on or publishing a transcript. The Service is not a substitute for professional, legal, medical, financial, or other expert advice.
6. Free use, credits, subscriptions, and billing
- Free use. Current limits are two transcripts per UTC day without an account and three per UTC day when signed in. We may adjust free limits to prevent abuse or reflect Service capacity.
- Credit calculation. A successful job uses one credit for each started five-minute block of video. For example, a 5:01–10:00 video uses two credits. Failed jobs do not consume credits.
- Monthly allocation. Paid credits reset at the start of each billing period. Unused credits expire and do not roll over or convert to cash.
- Recurring billing. Starter and Popular are monthly auto-renewing subscriptions billed by Stripe until canceled. Prices and included credits shown at checkout control your purchase.
- Upgrades. Upgrades normally take effect immediately. Stripe may charge a prorated difference for the remainder of the current period, and the upgraded allocation is applied after successful payment confirmation.
- Downgrades. Downgrades are scheduled for the next billing period. Your current plan and credits remain in effect until then, unless access is suspended for another reason.
- Payment failure. If a renewal or required upgrade payment fails, paid access and paid credits may be suspended immediately. You can update your payment method through the Stripe-hosted customer portal.
- Taxes and price changes. Prices exclude taxes unless stated otherwise. We may change future pricing or plan features with notice appropriate to the change and applicable law.
7. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel through your account or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and you can use remaining available credits until that time. Cancel before renewal to avoid the next recurring charge.
Except where applicable law requires otherwise, charges already made are non-refundable and unused credits have no cash value. We may issue a full or partial refund at our discretion for billing mistakes or exceptional circumstances. A refund does not automatically prevent us from suspending access associated with the refunded charge.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- violate law or another person’s intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or contractual rights;
- access private or restricted content, evade platform protections, or submit content you are not authorized to process;
- harass, stalk, exploit, profile, or facilitate harm to another person;
- upload or transmit malware, interfere with the Service, probe for vulnerabilities, or gain unauthorized access;
- automate requests, scrape the Service, resell access, or circumvent rate, account, payment, or credit limits without written permission;
- misrepresent an AI-generated transcript as verified, exact, or endorsed by the original creator; or
- use the Service for activity prohibited by the terms of Instagram, Meta, or an applicable third-party provider.
9. ScriptGecko intellectual property
The Service, website design, software, branding, and original materials are owned by ScriptGecko or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership of the Service or third-party content to you.
ScriptGecko is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta. Instagram and Meta names and marks belong to their respective owners.
10. Third-party services
The Service depends on third parties including Google, Supabase, Stripe, Vercel, SocialKit, AssemblyAI, Instagram, and Meta. Their services and content are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for a third party’s independent actions, outages, policy changes, content removal, or service limitations.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may limit, suspend, or terminate access if you breach these Terms, create security or legal risk, fail to pay, misuse the Service, or if continued operation becomes impractical. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, and liability limits—will survive.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” ScriptGecko disclaims all express, implied, and statutory warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScriptGecko and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business interruption arising from the Service. ScriptGecko’s aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid to ScriptGecko during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ScriptGecko and its service providers from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your submitted content, unlawful use of a transcript, breach of these Terms, or violation of another person’s rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from ScriptGecko’s own unlawful conduct.
15. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect product, provider, business, or legal changes. The revised Terms take effect when posted unless a later date is stated. We will provide additional notice for material changes when required. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of ScriptGecko, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, while preserving any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally. Courts with lawful jurisdiction may hear unresolved disputes.
17. General terms
If any provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only as necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, or transfer of the Service. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement regarding the Service unless separate written terms apply.
